    1. [S60] Chapman Company, History of Hancock County IL, (1880), Charles Austin, sec. 31; P.O., Middle Creek; is a native of Addison county, Vermont; born in 1830, a son of Francis B. and Eleanor (Whittle) Austin, also natives of Vermont. Charles emigrated to this State with his parents in 1846, and at the age of 21 was united in marriage with Harriet S. Allton, who was born in Indiana in 1833. After marriage Mr. A. located in Fountain Green tp., and followed farming for six years; from there he went to McDonough county and remained one year, and i.
