    Text Eagle Badges to Be Awarded to Eight; Work to Be Demonstrated. Santa: crtjz, Oct. so. pians or a court of honor of the Santa Cruz Boy Scout council were an nounced here today by Ti. H. Quln-ley, field scout executive. Eight Boy Scouts will receive the Eagle badges, the highest honor that can e given a scout. C. C. Moore, nast president of the San Francisco council will award the badges, and at this time the Santa Cruz chamber of commerce will present a silver cup to the troop having the largest percentage of visitors at tho court of honor. Every step fnd phase of the scout work will tie exemplified at the gathering, which will be held in the auti-torium of the Santa Cruz high school on November 13, and over one thousand are expected to be iPresent at the program. 8 WIN BADGES. The following will receive Eagle toadges: Troop 74, sponsored by ithe Elks with Richard Smith as scoutmaster, will present Edwin Strong, Donald Smith, Fred Clapp and Louis Grlpenstraw; troop 68, sponsored by the First Presbyterian church, with John Wood as scoutmaster, will present Roy Mayfield, and troop 66, sponsored by the Rotary club, with Delos Wilder as scoutmaster, will . present Carl Kratzensteln, Bob Bias and Gilbert Byrne. The last mentioned la tre veteran troop in this section. Gilbert Byrne and Carl Krat-benetein of Santa Cruz have received the largest number of merit badges, 26 having been awarded each boy. The average length of time which the boys have been working for the Eagle badges is three years. All the boys are members of the first troop they joined with the exception of Louis Grlpenstraw, who formerly was a member of troop 74, Is now with Jthe Sea Scout troop. A total of "(3 89 merit badges has been awarded, and the average of the boys is 15 years, 9 months.
