Notes - July 20, 1900, Hollister Freelance: Suit for Divorce -- Olive E. BUCKLEY has commenced suit in the Superior Court against William H. BUCKLEY for a divorce, alleging that defendant has deserted plaintiff and their child from more than a year past. BUCKLEY is said to be residing at Redding.
Sept 7, 1900, Hollister Freelance: Mrs. Olive BUCKLEY was granted a divorce last Monday afternoon in the Superior court, from Wm. H. BUCKLEY on the grounds of failure to provide and desertion. From the evidence adduced it appears that defendant desired plaintiff to mortgage her property for $200 in order that he might go to the Klondike. She refused to do so and the hard feeling engendered by her refusal finally culminated in defendant packing up his belongings and leaving the house. With the exception of the sum of $5 which he sent plaintiff on 1 occasion, he has never contributed to her support during his roamings in different parts of the State, for the past 2 years?she was awarded custody of the minor child.
