  Obituary	From funeral program Biography of Gloria Hasting Hobbs Gloria Delores (Dee) Hobbs was born on August 20, 1924 in Cicero, Illinois to Bessie May (Miller) and James Franklin Hasting. Gloria went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2012. Gloria’s mother died at an early age; leaving Gloria to help her father care for younger sisters and brothers while attending school herself. She completed 11th grade. She joined the US Army (Women’s Army Corp-WAC) on September 7, 1944. She became a Buck Seargent and was in charge of a Platoon of 55 women. She was honorably discharged on December 25, 1945. After being released from the Army she attended Cosmetology School in Oakland, CA. She worked several years as a Beauty Operator for the Lamington Beauty Salon in Oakland, CA. She later purchased the salon and continued to work as an owner operator; and she had a salon in her home for some time before she retired after 30 years of working. She met Eugene Hobbs and they were married on July 19, 1956. Eugene preceded her in death on August 2, 1999. Her surviving brothers and sister are Sonja Guokas, David (Yong) Hastings, John (Elaine) Hastings, Tom (Sue) Hastings, Correne Novak and Phyliss Thomas.  [2]
