  Obituary	From the Hollister Free Lance, 18 Dec 1911: Old Resident Passes Away Julius Ash, a well known resident of the San Benito district, died on his ranch near Topo last week. The death was due to tuberculosis, after| a two years illness. The remains were buried in the cemetery at Bitterwater. Deceased had been a resident of this county for many years and his time was occupied in farming and stockraising. He filed on a government quarter which he sold after obtaining title and then ventured in the matrimonial sea. The breakers swamped his bark and he again retired to the scenes of his farming days. A few years ago he again launched into the mysteries of connubial bliss which proved more happy. The widow survives him.  [2]

  News Item	From the San Benito Advance, 25 Jan 1907: Suit For Divorce. In the Superior Court, Gilmore Agnew, attorney for Olive Buckley Ash has commenced suit for divorce from Julius J. Ash. Plaintiff charges that defendant treated her in a cruel and inhuman manner, and among other things circulated the report that "she was hell after the men." Julius was also guilty of deceit, fraud and intoxication. (divorce was subesquently granted on 1 Mar 1907)  [6]
  Notes	Within a week of getting married, Julius & Olive purchased the poultry ranch owned by James Ebi just west of Hollister. A few days after this purchase, Olive put her home up for sale, calling it the “Buckley Hospital”. [7, 8]
