  Obituary	From the Ventura Daily Post, 20 Jan 1924: FUNERAL OF LATE MRS. J. E. SERLES Funeral services for the late Mrs. J. E. Serles were conducted yesterday at Archers undertaking parlors, where relatives and friends gathered for the last rites. The services were in charge of the woman's relief corps of which Mrs. Serles had long been a member and efficient officer. The latter post she resigned but a short time ago, declining reelection because of ill health. Rev. T. M. Patterson spoke words of comfort and hope to the mourners and Mrs. L. L. Spafford sang. Pall bearers were John Mitchell, Allen Sharr, George Transue, Bert Osgoodsby, N. M. Stearns, Dick Harris. The Interment was at Ivy Lawn,.  [4]
