Most of our knowledge concerning him comes from his own and his father's wills. Joseph's will, dated May 20, 1765, and proved June 5, 1765, provides for the sale of his plantation on the Manalopan called Grape Vine Neck. It confirms the sale of land, purchased of William Perrine, to son John. Wife Sarah shall enjoy rest of estate including 200 acres where he now lives, conveyed to him by his father John Rue.
