  Notes	From Graves family history: William M. Greaves or Graves (4) was born 23 Dec. 1800 in Ohio, the year his parents settled in Zanesville, Muskingum Co., OH, and died 23 Dec. 1875. His middle name may have been Mode. He was about 24 years old when he moved to Indiana with his parents, brothers and sisters. He was a carpenter, according to the census records. William helped to establish and train at least 2 of his sons-in-law in the carpenter trade, and it is said that he and his son-in-law, Edward Stewart, worked together as carpenters. Edward Stewart was born in 1842 in Pennsylvania. His name is also spelled Stewert and Steward, but Stewart seems to be the way the name was spelled on the gravestones of the family. Edward was a carpenter, and is said to have worked with his father-in-law William M. Graves. If so, he would also have worked with Mrs. Botkin's ancestor, George Walter Riddle, who married Catherine's niece. What searching has been done indicates that Edward probably moved to Indianapolis after the divorce. [15]

  Notes	Only evidence found so far of the STEWART - BROWN family in early 19th century Pennsylvania is the affadavit for insanity that Sarah Ann Stewart Rue’s daughters, Annie Rue Austin and Mary Rue Frost, filed for her commital in Aug 1929. In that document, they did not provide name of father, but did provide maiden name of mother, BROWN, and that there were zero (0) living and three (3) deceased children. Since Sarah was still alive, this would imply four (4) children total, of which only Edward has been identified.

  Notes	Per a court item in the Osceola Advance, Osceola, MO, Edward filed suit for divorce against Catharine in absentia. Catharine was not living in Missouri, and was presumably still in Indiana. The suit claimed Catharine had abandoned Edward, and was committing adultery with numerous men. This would align with another item from The Republic, Columbus, IN, in which Catharine Stewart has filed suit for $500 against Andrew Ferrell for bastardy. No ruling was reported in the paper that I can find. From Graves Family History: In 1870, Catherine and Edward lived in Columbus, IN, next door to Catherine's aunt Mary (Graves) McFall. They had 3 daughters then. In the 1880 census, Catherine was shown as divorced, head of household, with 3 of her 4 daughters and 2 sons with her. The oldest daughter Jennie or Janie was living with her grandmother Jane (McKibbon) Graves. [15, 20, 21]
