  News Item	From the Hollister Free Lance, 17 Mar 1916: WILLIAM BROOKS WEDS MRS. ELIZABETH LEIGAN Mrs. Elizabeth Leigan became the wife of William Brooks at San Jose last Friday and the newlyweds are enjoying a brief honeymoon in the bay district. Mr. Brooks was in this section about two years ago with a detachment of the U.S. army engineers, who spent some time here in making military maps of the country. He was commissary sergeant of the troop, which camped for some time at the west end of the bridge across the San Benito in the Union district. While there he became acquainted with Mrs. Leigan and when his elllistment expired recently he returned here to claim her for his wife. Mrs. Brooks is the daughter of Mr. and Airs. W. J.Bowden, well known residents of the Union district, and is well known there and in Hollister. The future plans of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks are not known.  [1]
