    Sunday afternoon

    My Dear Barbara,

Your nice letter came yesterday and I am glad to know that at last you got your suit case. What a shame. Did they have to go from the ranch to the station a second time? Tuesday being the 4th of July I didn't get my trunk until Wednesday afternoon and I began to wonder if they had gotten our checks mixed. I know you are having a nice time and I hope you will run and play and get real fat. I wish you could see this place. It is so pretty right in the woods. The Normal where Aunt Sue teaches is only as far as your house on Union St to Mission St from our Bungalow, and then about seven other little homes very near us where the different teachers and some of the students live.

One thing I miss very much there isn't a child anywhere about the place so you may know how I would like to see the Byrne kiddies. Tell your Aunt Edith the apples were fine and we enjoyed them immensely. Fruit & vegetables are not so plenty as at Santa Cruz. We didn't go downtown on the 4th but sat at the edge of the hill and saw the fireworks in the evening. It is very quiet here once in a while an auto goes spinning by. I am glad you are having such a nice time. Hope you will write to me again. Aunt Susan is busy writing but sends her love to both you and Aunt Edith. I wish you were near enough to stop in and see us real often.

Now I must stop. With love to Aunt Edith and heaps to yourself. Remember me kindly to your uncle.

    Your Aunt,
    Anna
