On Sunday, July 28, Rev. John Haller, father of Mrs. Paul Yost, reached his ninetieth birthday. Hale and hearty except for a slight hearing defect, he celebrated the birthday by attending Sunday School and worship at the Dighton Methodist t Church even though the thermometer stood at 104 in the shade.
Rev. Haller came to America over 70 years ago and for 45 years served as a minister among German speaking people. He was held in high esteem by the conference and the people he served. At one time he was presiding elder for. a large district in Kansas.
He ministered at Muscatine, Ia., Sedalia, Mo., as well as the following places in Kansas: Eudora, Topeka, Wichita, Lyons, Ellinwood, Bushton, Russell, Canada, Otis, and La Crosse.
His many Lane county friends join with other western Kansas friends in congratulating this pioneer minister on this 90th birthday. Rev. Haller spends part of leach year in Lane county.-Dighton Herald..
