Text BOY STICKS FINGER IN ELECTRIC COFFEE GRINDER AND LOSES JOINT

In a peculiar accident at Gury's cash grocery on San Benito street yesterday, Darrel Leigan, son of Mrs. George Leigan of the Union district, had the first joint of the index finger of the right hand amputated by an electrically-operated coffee grinder.

A clerk had just finished grinding a coffee purchase and had shut off the current and removed the receptacle containing the coffee. The Leigan lad, with boyish inquisitiveness, stuck his finger in the orifice through which the coffec runs forth and the member was ground off in an instant.

The injured lad was taken to the Hazel Hawking hospital where he is under the care of Dr. J. M. O'Donnell and though the injury is painful, is doing nicely..
