Jacqueline Russell Byrne, 78, passed away on September 20, 2006. She was a native of Landis, NC and both a Captain and Letterman of her high school’s basketball team. Mrs. Byrne gave 38 years of service to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and in her retirement, she drove buses for the Portsmouth Public Schools.
Mrs. Byrne was predeceased by her devoted husband, Fay Byrne and her beloved granddaughter, Helen Mary Lee Ransone. She was survived by her four children, Sandy Waters of Austin, TX, Lee Byrne of Portsmouth, Debbie Robinson of Portsmouth, and Susan Byrne of Alexandria, VA; four grandchildren, Angela and Robert Byrne and David and Stephen Waters; seven brothers and sisters, Joanna Tucker, Patricia Shindell, Larry Russell, Barbara Braunstein, Anne Moss, Frances Wheeler and Mitchell Russell; a sister-in-law, Nellie Truitt; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend who has been like a granddaughter to her Ann Flint her husband, Michael and daughter, Trinity.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by Rev. Tony Melia.Linked to (8) BYRNE, Debbie
