    Text Irene Renee Robinson died April 18 at Georgetown Hospital. She was born and raised in China's international community learning to speak Russian, French and English at an early age. She came to the United States shortly after WW2 to join her husband whom she had met when he served in China.

    During her 30 + years as a Marine Corps wife, she was active in local Officers Wives Clubs and Navy Relief. During the 1960's Mrs. Robinson worked at the Bureau of Standards and taught Honors Russian at Georgetown University.

    After her husband's retirement from active duty,she was appointed by President Reagan to the Committee on Women in Higher Education. Mrs Robinson was a prominent member of Washington's Russian American community through her church work and as a longtime patron of numerous cultural and charitable events. She was also active in a number of organizations, including Arts for the Aging, the Young Artists series, Meridian House, CARE and her Neighborhood Club.

    She is survived by her husband, Lt. Gen. Wallace H. Robinson,Jr. USMC (Retired), her daughter Christine Trapnell, her grandchildren William Todd Trapnell and Andrea Trapnell-Chretien,two great grandchildren Tatian and Amaury and a brother Dr. Alfred Pavot.

    Funeral Services will be held at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral on Tuesday April 24 at 11;30 with a reception following the service. Burial will be private at a later date.
