Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Mar 2, at 11 o'clock from St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Va, for John Travis Bowling, 64, of 807 Enderly Drive, Beverly Hill, Alexandria, formerly of Charles Town who died Wednesday morning in Alexandria Va. Hospital of cerebral thrombosis. Following the services the remains will be brought to Charles Town for graveside services at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. Roger Henshaw, rector of Zion Church where burial will be made in the family lot.
The family requests that in lieu of floral memorials that contributions be made to the heart fund in the county.
The deceased was born in Charles Town, a son of the late Thomas Clagett and Mary Crowle Bowling. He attended Augusta Military Academy and was graduated from the University of Virginia in the class of 1931. He was an avid fan of and contributor to the sports programs of both the University of Virginia and Virginia Military Institute.
In 1936 he was married to the late Jane Brockenbrough Trapnell, who died five years ago in a highway accident. His wife was a niece of the late Rebecca and Jack Trapnell, of Charles Town. He had one brother, Thomas Bowling, Jr., who was killed in World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Marshall Bowling of Sunnyvale, California; a son, Thomas C. Bowling, manager of the Ivy Cemetery in Alexandria, Va.Linked to (3) BOWLING, John Travers
