    Text TRAPNELL, Frances Rawlings, 90, died peacefully in Roanoke on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, following a short illness. In death, she joined her beloved husband, Frederick Holmes Trapnell, VMI Class of 1931, who died in 1979. A Norfolk native, Frances is survived by three daughters, Fran Gayle of Roanoke, Jane Browne of Lydiate Ash, England, and Emily Trapnell of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons-in-law, Martin Browne and Lee Ensley; grandsons, Rob Gayle and wife, Paige of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Clinton Browne of Jackson, Tennessee, and Holmes Browne of Harrisonburg, Va.; as well as step- granddaughter, Susan Ensley of Pensacola, Fla. She also has two surviving sisters, Emily Hume Taylor
