    Text SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — William "Billy" C. Trapnell IV died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.

    He was born Jan. 27, 1985, in Harrisburg, Pa., a son of William C. Trapnell III and Suzanne Markham. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School.

    He was dedicated to his country and community, and had served in the U.S. Army. He was an active petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boston. He also worked for the York Ambulance Association and South Berwick Fire and Rescue, and was a volunteer for the York Village Fire Department.

    He is survived by his wife, Tara L. (Kohn) Trapnell; a daughter, Adalynn N. Trapnell; a sister, Katye Trexler of Harrisburg; father William C. Trapnell III of South Berwick; his mother, Suzanne Sheaffer and her husband, Paul, of Harrisburg; mother-in-law Teresa Hannold of Harrisburg; paternal grandparents William and Nancy Trapnell of Harrisburg; maternal grandmother Catherine Markham of Harrisburg; two stepsisters, Robyn VonLumm and her children, Bryson and Hailey, and Nikki Sheaffer and her son, Hayden Fink; and three brothers and three sisters-in-law. Billy surrounded himself with many friends who became his family, including Michael Schroth and his wife, Christina, of York, and Brad Redinger and his wife, Ashley, of Mt. Joy, Pa.

    He was predeceased by a sister, Brittany Trapnell (Sarah Sheaffer), and his grandfather, Walter Markham.

    SERVICES: Calling hours for Billy will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Funeral services and burial will be held in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Tara L. Trapnell, c/o Kennebunk Savings Bank, for the Adalynn N.
