Text	Scudder Family Dr. Henry Scudder presided at a committee of clergyman appointed by the King, at Westminster Abbey, England, 1643. THOMAS SCUDDER, sr (supposed to be his son) came from Groton, England with wife Elisabeth in 1636. Settled at Salem, Mass., died there in 1657. Children: Elisabeth(2), Thomas(2), Henry(2) and John(2) came from Salem to Southold, L.I. in 1651. In 1656 all sold out to John Baylis, and removed to Huntington, LI. Later some of the families went to Jamaica, L.I. to reside. HENRY(2) SCUDDER m. Catharine Este, dau. of Jeffrey, he d. 1661, children: Jonathan(3) m. 1680, Sarah Brown. Moses(3), David(3) m. Mary. Mary(3), Rebecca(3). JOHN(2) went to Maspeth, 1660, m. Joanna Betts, their son, Samuel(3) m. Phebe Titus about 1680. In 1710, Henry Scudder m Mary Willets, dau. of Richard and Abigail (Powell). They were cousins. He d. 1715, and she m. Thomas Williams.
