    Text Charles Leigan Dead.

    Died, at his residence three miles southwest of Neodesha, Kansas, early on the morning of July 31, 1900, Charles Lelgan, aged 51 years, 10 months and 29 days. Tho funeral occurred on the afternoon of the same day, conducted by Rev. J. A. Smith, interment being made in the City cemetery.

    Deceased was born near Jefferson City, Mo., from which place he emigrated to Jefferson county, Kansas, with his parents in 1855. In the early 70's he came to Noodesha where later he married Josephine Rue, the daughter of 'Squire Rue who then owned what is now N. M. Tanquary's farm. Mr. and Mrs. Leigan have since their marriage resided in the vicinity of Neodesha anil have raised nine children, four boys and five girls, all of whom are at home with their mother except two. W. J. C. Leigan is married and lives south of town and a daughter has become Mrs. Lucy Jenkins.

    The cause of Mr. Leigan's death was cancer of the lip with which he had been afllictod for more than two years.
