    Mrs. Byrne was born in Hollister and graduated from San Jose State University. She taught school before settling in Santa Cruz in 1929.

    For many years she was active with the St. Anne's Guild of the Calvary Episcopal Church, and also volunteered in the special collecions section of the UCSC library in the 1960s and 1970s.

    She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Boxwell of Sunnyvale, four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

    Her husband, John Byrne, died in 1989. Her son, Jack Byrne, died in 1993.

    Contributions are preferred to Senior Network Services of Santa Cruz County, 1777 Capitola Road, Santa Cruz.
