    Richmond, Va., March 29 - The wedding of Miss Sally Berkeley Gordon, daughter of Mrs. Thomas Christian Gordon of 1001 Floyd Avenue, Richmond, and William Holmes Trapnell, son of Joseph Trapnell of Chatham, N.J., formerly of Charles Town, W. Va., took place this evening at the home of the bride, with Dr. Richard Trapnell of Norfolk, uncle of the bridegroom, assisted by Dr. Beverley D. Tucker Jr. of this city, performing the ceremony.

    Mrs. Homer L. Ferguson Jr., sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and the Misses Anne Hill Brown and Helen Smith of ROchester, N. Y., were bridesmaids. The bridegroom had as his best man his brother, Franklin Trapnell of Baltimore.

    • Obituary: From the Washington Post Retired Lt. Gen. Wallace H. Robinson Jr., who served as quartermaster general of the Marine Corps and directed the development of a new system of supply management, died Aug. 17 at his home in Washington. He was 93. The cause was congestive heart failure, said his daughter, Christine R. Trapnell. Gen. Robinson served in the Marine Corps from 1940 to 1976, and his final active-duty assignment was director of the Defense Supply Agency at Cameron Station in Alexandria. From 1969 to 1971, during the Vietnam War era, he was named the 20th quartermaster general of the Marine Corps, responsible for supplies for the entire service branch. Earlier, he directed the development of the Marine Corps Unified Materiel Management System, a new method for managing supplies and materiel that took effect in 1967. Wallace Hamilton Robinson Jr. was born in Washington and was a 1936 graduate of Roosevelt High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1940 from Virginia Tech. He served in the Pacific during World War II and participated in the Battle of Tarawa. After the war, he directed construction projects in China as commander of an engineering battalion. His military decorations included the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, two awards of the Legion of Merit and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Gen. Robinson was president from 1977 to 1991 of what is now the National Defense Industrial Association. He received a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University in 1962. He also studied painting at the old Philadelphia College of Art in the 1960s and donated his paintings to charity auctions. He was a board member of the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington. His wife of 70 years, the former Irene Renee deTeodoro, died in 2012. Survivors include a daughter, Christine R. She came to the United States shortly after WW2 to join her husband whom she had met when he served in China. During her 30 + years as a Marine Corps wife, she was active in local Officers Wives Clubs and Navy Relief. During the 1960's Mrs. Robinson worked at the Bureau of Standards and taught Honors Russian at Georgetown University. After her husband's retirement from active duty,she was appointed by President Reagan to the Committee on Women in Higher Education. Mrs Robinson was a prominent member of Washington's Russian American community through her church work and as a longtime patron of numerous cultural and charitable events.
