  Notes	Olga wrote to the U.S. Asimovs in 1992. Her letter (below) was translated by an acquaintance named Gena Petrov, "an agricultural trainee from Russia" who was visiting Connecticut. Gena Petrov sent Olga's translated letter to Isaac and prefaced it with this note: "On the March 20, 1992, I received a letter from your cousin, Olga Vladimirovna Asimova, currently residing in Russia, 40 miles south of Izhevsk, a big industrial city in Ural region of the country. She was born in the village of Petrovichi in the Smolensk region. She asks me to get in touch with you and hand over the letter from her, which at present I keep with me. I obtained your address fairly soon and sent you a letter in Russian. But there was no response or any confirmation that the address is right. If the fate of your cousin is of any interest to you, I should be very happy to be at your service. Petrov" Here is Olga's letter: Dear Mr. Asimov, I am Olga Asimova. I am your relative. My father, Vele Asimov, is brother of your grandfather, Ara. I could saw once you speak on Russian TV. You said at present time still like it Russia, and with pleasurre would like attendance to Petrovichi. If you want to visit to Petrovichi, I can help you. Before the Second World War, I worken medical assistant at Petrovichi hospital. You grandfather Ara and grandmother Haneh died before of war. Your Uncle Boris lived in Israel. He had poor life therefore. I all time help for him. Avrahm died at Maykop, (city near the Black Sea). Samuel died at Leningrad. (Petersberg). I have got not good fate. At the beginning Second World War, we mlized for to work at military hospitals from 24 June to 1941 up to September 1945. My parents and 9-year-old daughter killed (by) fascists by buried alive. I get to know about that tragic story one time me and my husband visited at Petrovichi after war. At Petrovichi, about 70 percent people had family named Asimov. Fascists killed all people from Petrovichi who had family name Asimov. That were mine and your relatives. I cannot life at Petrovichi after this horror. Therefore, I and my husband decided to change life place and chose Ural region, about 600 miles east of Moscow. We live at new place 42 years. We have of son. He is doctor. My granddaughter study at college of medical. I don't ask for nothing to you. I proud you because are you my relative. I have you many books publish on russian. Also, I storage (have?) Russian magazines, which talk about you. I am older than you, and I remember when you and your parents leave from Petrovichi by horses cart. Your family sat on cart already to leave, and all relatives around cry. Isaac, if not difficult for you, please write me letter. Please describe about you and you family. How do you feel? I knew you afraid travel by plane, therefore, I think you don't agree to travel to Russia for attendance of native land your childhood. Olga's niece, Serafima Asimova, sent us this email in 2006: "Olga became the midwife, and her husband Igor Rechits - the doctor the gynecologist. They some times came to us on Gogol [street in Leningrad] on a visit. Olga very much was friends of Boris Asimov. They lived in the North I have forgotten city. I know, that they [Olga and Igor] have son, and he too became the doctor."
