• Obituary: From the Santa Cruz Sentinel, 29 Mar 2000: Genevieve Byrne Services will be private for Genevieve Silva Byrne, who died Friday in Carmel. She was 83. She was born in Felton and lived on the Monterey Peninsula for 56 years. She was a salesperson at the Village Straw Shop in Carmel for 30 years. She was involved in many activities including the Children's Home Society, Carmel Youth Center and the former Bing Crosby Pro Am, now the AT&T National Pro-Am golf tournament. Mrs. Byrne is survived by daughters Suzanne Whitlow of Tucson, Ariz, and Cynthia Byrne Sellars of Carmel; sons Gerald Byrne of Rio del Mar and Michael Byrne of Thousand Palms; eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Her husband, Howard Byrne, died in 1993. Healey Mortuary of Salinas is handling arrangements. Her ashes will be scattered over Point Lobos.
