• Obituary: From Santa Cruz Sentinel Susan L. Byrne Dies In Los Altos. Word has been received of the death in Los Altos Monday of Susan Lydia Byrne, 90, a former resident of Santa Cruz. A native of Jackson, Mich., Miss Byrne was a retired teacher and a member of the California. Teachers association and the Federated Church of Saratoga. She was a former professor of art at San Jose State college. Miss Byrne is survived by several nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Mt. Evergreen cemetery, Jackson, Mich. From the Palo Alto Times Susan Byrne Susan Lydia Byrne, 90, a retired San Jose State College professor, died at her Pilgrim Haven, Los Altos, residence after a heart attack Monday morning. Miss Byrne had resided at Pilgrim Haven since 1955, moving there from Saratoga. She taught creative arts at San Jose State before retirement in 1940. She was a native of Jackson, Mich. She was a member of Saratoga Federated Church and national and state retired teachers associations. Miss Byrne is survived by five nieces, including Louise Shreve of Menlo Park, and five nephews.
